St Christopher’s

I have been leading on PR for St Christopher’s - the home of the modern hospice movement - for the past 18 months. I also oversee the organisation’s storytelling and their community magazine, Connect, which explores death, dying and grief.

Coverage

Since leading on PR at St Christopher’s, I have overseen the launch of a new brand and strategy of the world’s most well known hospice, helped draw attention to a national hospice funding crisis, and secured vital coverage for end of life care as we confront the way we die in the UK with the Assisted Dying bill.

This includes a landmark feature in the Sunday Times, a moving and vital piece on Sky News and other coverage across LBC, BBC, ITV, PA Media, The i, Mailonline, The Independent, Nursing Times and lots more.

Just one example, as part of Hospice Care Week, our Clinical Team Lead and nurse Eva Trowers was quoted in a story put out by PA Media which ran across national, broadcast, and regional publications. It culminated in 330 publications quoting Eva, including the Daily Mail, The Independent, the Daily Telegraph, Evening Standard and ITV.

I have also secured coverage of our death literacy work on Radio 4’s World at One and an episode on the importance of hospice care on the BBC One’s Songs of Praise

Storytelling

I lead on capturing case studies and stories across the organisation.

One of my favourite stories this year was how some of my amazing colleagues helped a dying woman swim one last time with her husband, in their favourite swimming spot.

Read that story here, or check out some of my other favourites here.

Connect Magazine

I helped to overhaul an outdated fundraising pamphlet and bring it into the 21st century. Introducing, Connect, which we launched in 2023. Connect is our bi-annual magazine that explores death, dying and grief in a safe, creative and accessible way that changes perceptions and breaks taboos.
